International Women’s Day in Engineering 2023

23 June 2023

Today is International Women in Engineering Day, and we spoke with Anastasia Kraitsik, an Assistant Design Engineer at Enable Design, about her perspective and experience of working in engineering as a woman:

🟒Why did you want to become an engineer?

I was drawn to civil engineering due to my interest in creating secure, efficient, and resilient airports, bridges, dams, harbours, infrastructure, and highways that millions of people will use for many years.

🟒What changes would you like to see in the engineering industry to support and empower women?

It is inspiring to witness companies supporting female engineers by providing opportunities for leadership roles. I share this ambition and have faith that, with dedication, I will continue developing my potential to achieve this.

🟒Have you had any mentors or role models who have influenced your career as an engineer? How have they impacted your professional development?

Becoming an engineer was greatly influenced by my grandfather and university teachers, who acted as my role models for professional development. Their passion and commitment to their profession inspired me to work harder.

🟒What advice would you give young women considering a career in engineering?

Be yourself, and chase your dreams because nothing is impossible!

🟒Can you share any notable projects or achievements you’re particularly proud of in your engineering career?

Throughout my career, I take immense pride in every civil design project I work on and contribute to. Every project holds significance to me. Additionally, I’m proud of my personal and professional growth as an engineer during the initial stages of my career.

🟒How do you continue to grow and develop your engineering skills and knowledge?

I strive to enhance my engineering expertise every day by collaborating with my colleagues at Enable Design and investing time in building my experience. Additionally, I’m constantly learning new programs which equip me with new skills.w
