Thamesdown Drive Resurfacing Project for Swindon

There was a large number of potholes and uneven surfacing on the busy Thamesdown Drive prior to the works. Therefore, these works will improve travel time, reduce noise and limit the damage caused to drivers’ cars.

The project included replacing white lining, bridge joints and new slot cutting and cabling for traffic signal controls. With the junctions serving local housing, numerous businesses and an out of town shopping centre.

The contract was to plane off and resurface 20,000m 2 of failing wearing course. (Ultilayer 10 Surf PMB PSV68). There are elements of regulating and binder course that also need replacing (approx. 300T).

These works required the design and implementation of extensive Traffic Management for diversions, lane closures over eleven junctions for a combination of daytime and nighttime working.

The works are another great step for Enable Infrastructure (formerly known as BCM Construction) as we continue to grow and diversify. Thank you to Swindon Borough Council and Gibbs Surfacing Limited for assisting with this project.
